Air Conditioning Gold Coast

Supplied, installed, serviced and repaired by one licensed team, with the electrical and refrigeration work handled on the same job.

Ryder Electrical Services supplies, installs, services and repairs air conditioning for homes and businesses across the Gold Coast. Each system is sized to the space it has to cool: floor area, ceiling height, insulation and which way the room faces. An undersized unit runs flat out, and an oversized one wastes power.

Air conditioning is electrical work as much as refrigeration. The same team holds ARC licence L196738 for refrigerant handling and QLD electrical licence 92423, so the unit, the circuit and the switchboard are covered by one booking.

Choosing a system

Split System or Ducted?

How much of the house needs cooling usually settles it. Budget and how each room gets used decide the rest.

A multi-split system sits between the two: several indoor units run from one outdoor unit, giving each room its own temperature control without ductwork.

Servicing

What a Service Covers

Dust, dirt and mould build up inside a system over time. Airflow drops, the unit works harder for the same result, and small faults grow into expensive ones. A service once a year, ideally before summer, keeps it in check.

  • Filters. Cleaned, for proper airflow and indoor air quality.

  • Coils, fins and fans. Cleaned and inspected to catch faults early.

  • Electrical connections. Checked and tightened.

  • Drain lines. Inspected and cleared of debris.

  • Thermostat and controls. Tested and calibrated.

Common Questions

Air Conditioning FAQs

Ducted or split system: which is better?

Split systems suit one or two rooms and cost less to install, while ducted air conditioning suits whole-home comfort with zoning. We size and recommend the right option for your home and budget.

What size air conditioner do I need?

It depends on the space it has to cool: floor area, ceiling height, insulation and which way the room faces. A split system is sized to the one room or open-plan area it serves, and a ducted system to the whole area across its zones. An undersized unit runs constantly and an oversized one wastes energy, so we size it on site during a free assessment.

What does an air conditioning service include?

Filters are cleaned for proper airflow and indoor air quality. Coils, fins and fans are cleaned and inspected to catch faults early. Electrical connections are checked and tightened, drain lines inspected and cleared of debris, and the thermostat and controls tested and calibrated.

How often should I service my air conditioner?

Generally once a year, ideally before summer, plus regular filter cleaning. It keeps the system efficient and catches small faults before they become expensive.

Can I install a split system myself?

No. Installing a split system involves handling refrigerant, which requires a refrigerant handling licence from the Australian Refrigeration Council, and connecting it to power is electrical work that requires an electrical licence. We hold both: ARC licence L196738 and QLD electrical licence 92423.
