Solar Panel Installation Gold Coast

Systems sized to your roof and your power bill, from 6.6kW to 13kW and up, with battery-ready inverters and a 10-year workmanship warranty.

Ryder Electrical Services designs and installs solar panels for homes and businesses across the Gold Coast up to Brisbane's north side. A 6.6kW solar installation suits many smaller Gold Coast households, while 10kW, 13kW and larger battery-ready systems suit bigger homes. We size each system from your power bill, your roof's orientation and shading, and whether the property is on single or three-phase supply, not from whatever package is on special.

The same licensed team supplies, installs and connects the panels and inverter, checks the switchboard, and confirms which government rebates currently apply as part of your quote.

Solar panels on a Gold Coast house roof

Why Install Solar on the Gold Coast?

  • Lower Power Bills

Power generated on your roof during the day replaces power you would otherwise buy from the grid.

  • A Smaller Carbon Footprint

Every kilowatt-hour your panels produce is one the grid does not have to supply.

  • Less Reliance on the Grid

Add a battery and your daytime surplus runs the house at night, and can keep essentials on during an outage.

  • Appeal to Buyers

Homes with solar often attract stronger interest when they go to market.

  • Rebates on Eligible Systems

Small-scale technology certificates (STCs) reduce the upfront cost. The current amount is confirmed in your quote.

  • Low Maintenance

Panels have no moving parts. An occasional clean and a periodic check keep output where it should be.

System sizes

6.6kW, 10kW or 13kW: Which Solar System Fits Your Home?

Most Gold Coast homes land on one of three sizes. Your power bill, roof and supply decide the final number.

  1. 6.6kW

    Small to medium homes

    Typical loads
    Modest daytime use
    Roof
Around 15 to 17 panels, fits most roofs
    Supply
    Single-phase is fine
    Battery or EV
    Limited surplus to store
  2. 10kW

    Larger homes, higher usage

    Typical loads
Ducted air conditioning or a pool
    Roof
    Needs more roof area
    Supply
    Single-phase is usually fine
    Battery or EV
Good headroom to add one later
  3. 13kW+

    Large, high-consumption homes

    Typical loads
Several air conditioners, a pool, EVs
    Roof
    Needs a large roof
    Supply
    Usually needs three-phase
    Battery or EV
    Room for substantial storage

Adding a Solar Battery

A battery stores the daytime solar you would otherwise export, for use in the evening, and some systems can keep essentials running in an outage. We install batteries, including Tesla Powerwall and Enphase, with a new system or added to existing solar, and a battery-ready inverter means it can wait. Whether one pays off depends on your evening use and the rebate on the day it is installed.

Common Questions

Gold Coast Solar FAQs

What size solar system do I need for a Gold Coast home?

It depends on your power usage, roof space and budget. A 6.6kW system suits many smaller households, while 10kW, 13kW and larger systems suit bigger homes or households planning to add a battery or EV charger. We size every system to your actual usage during a free assessment.

How much can solar save on my electricity bill?

Savings depend on your system size, how much power you use while the panels are producing, and whether you add a battery. Every kilowatt-hour you use from your own roof is one you do not buy from the grid, and a battery lets you use more of your solar after dark. The free assessment starts from your power bill.

Can I have solar without a battery?

Yes. A grid-connected solar system works without a battery: the panels power the house during the day and the surplus is exported to the grid. A battery stores that surplus for the evening instead. With a battery-ready inverter, you can install solar now and add a battery later without replacing the inverter.

Are there solar and battery rebates?

Yes. Eligible solar and battery installations earn small-scale technology certificates (STCs), which reduce the upfront cost, and your quote shows what applies to your system on the day.

How do solar feed-in tariffs work?

A feed-in tariff is what your electricity retailer pays for the surplus solar you export to the grid, and plans and amounts vary between retailers. In South East Queensland there is no mandated rate: retailers offer competitive market rates, so shop around and compare plans on Energy Made Easy. In regional Queensland, eligible customers can get a regional feed-in tariff set each year by the Queensland Competition Authority. The former Solar Bonus Scheme tariff is not available to new customers.

Can I install my own solar panels?

No. Connecting a solar system is electrical work, which in Queensland must be done by a licensed electrician. To claim the small-scale technology certificates that reduce the upfront cost, the installer must also be accredited by Solar Accreditation Australia and hold an unrestricted electrical licence.
