What should I do if the power goes out?

Unplug appliances on that circuit, check for anything damaged or another reason it tripped, then reset it once. If it trips again, won't reset, or nothing has tripped and you still have no power, call the emergency line. Don't touch a switchboard that is wet, hot, sparking or scorched.
Why does my power keep tripping?
A trip is the safety switch or circuit breaker doing its job and cutting the power. Only safety switches protect people; circuit breakers protect appliances. Check for a damaged or faulty appliance or another reason for the trip, then reset it once. If it trips again or won't reset, call us: a safety switch that keeps tripping is a fault that needs a licensed electrician.

Is a warm or buzzing switchboard dangerous?
Yes, treat it as urgent. A switchboard should be cool and silent. Warmth, a buzzing sound, a burning smell or scorch marks point to loose connections or overheating, and both are fire hazards. Do not touch the board. Stop using the affected circuits, keep everyone clear and call 0429 391 505. If there is smoke or fire, leave and call 000 first.
