Your Local Coomera Electrician
The northern Gold Coast corridor - Coomera, Upper Coomera, Pimpama and the estates running up toward Ormeau - is the fastest growing part of the city. Most of what we do here involves houses under ten years old, and that makes it the opposite of our work in Southport or Burleigh.
Ryder Electrical Services covers the whole northern corridor, from the Coomera Town Centre out to Hope Island and Sanctuary Cove.
New Homes: What Builders Leave Out
A new estate home arrives with compliant, modern wiring and a decent switchboard. What it rarely arrives with is provision for how the household actually lives. The most common jobs we are called for in the first two years after handover:
- Solar installation - either the builder's package was undersized, or "solar ready" turned out to mean an empty conduit
- EV charger installation - a dedicated circuit to the garage, which is almost never included
- Outdoor entertaining power and lighting - alfresco areas handed over with a single power point
- Pool and spa circuits - added once landscaping is finished
- Ceiling fans - roughed in but rarely supplied
- Additional power points - especially in home offices and garages
- Data cabling - for home offices and wall-mounted televisions
None of these are faults. They are the difference between a builder's base specification and a finished home.
Solar in the Northern Corridor
Coomera is genuinely one of the best solar suburbs on the coast, and for structural reasons rather than marketing ones:
- Modern roofs with simple, uncluttered planes and good orientation
- Larger roof areas than the older beachside suburbs
- High consumption from ducted air conditioning, pools and, increasingly, EVs
- New switchboards that rarely need upgrading before an installation
The main decision here is sizing, not feasibility. Households routinely under-size based on their first power bill, before the pool pump and the second air conditioner arrive. What size solar system do I need walks through it, and if you are weighing storage, is a solar battery worth it covers the payback honestly.
EV Charging
New-estate garages are the simplest EV installations we do, and the northern corridor has a high uptake. We assess:
- Whether your supply is single or three-phase
- Available switchboard capacity and spare ways
- Cable route from board to garage
- Whether load management is needed alongside air conditioning and a pool
- Solar integration, so the car charges on excess generation rather than from the grid
7kW vs 22kW home EV charger explains why the larger unit is usually unnecessary, and the best home EV charger in Australia compares the units we install.
